Painting of Eastern Gas Pipeline Substations for Jemena
Dean Industrial has recently been awarded the contract to repaint all Eastern Gas Pipeline Substations within N.S.W, Qld and Vic. This project requires strict safety precautions due to the hazards associated with working close to a gas environment.
Lock Gate 9 on Murray River
Due to the very sensitive environmental factors in this project, Dean Industrial took every precaution to eliminate any possible contamination to the Murray River during the abrasive blasting & painting of all gates to Lock 9. This was possible by completely emptying the lock chamber then fill encapsulating each door for treatment.
A high build solventless epoxy was applied to comply with S.A. Water regulations.
WIN Stadium
Dean Industrial was commissioned to carry out necessary rectification work to the access stairways to WIN stadium northern grandstand. Due to the harsh coastal environment that the stadium is exposed to, a three coat high build two pack epoxy system was applied to all surfaces after a full abrasive blast of the failed existing coating. Dean Industrial utilised its own carpentry division to carry out work on the handrail infill panels (which were removed and painted off site). Full encapsulation and dust extraction was undertaken throughout the project.
1st Gas Holder for BSL Port Kembla
The protective coating contract for the 1st Gas Holder for BSL Port Kembla was undertaken by Dean Industrial. Using a paint specification supplied by the customer, Dean Industrial prepared the surface by scabbling excess residual tar followed by ultra high pressure water blasting. The coating of walls were achieved by the use of ‘Alimak’ elevated work platforms and completed one bay at a time to reduce contamination. A local signwriting company was procured to carry out the clearly visible Bluescope Steel sign.
Painting of batching plants for Boral concrete
Dean Industrial carry out painting of batching plants for Boral concrete during the Christmas break period. The last plant completed was located at Brookvale and was completed on time and within budget. Due to the sensitive location of the plant, abrasive blasting was not a cost nor environmentally friendly alternative, therefore, high pressure water blasting was used for surface preparation instead. Any surfaces showing visible rust was spot primed using a surface tolerant Two Pack Epoxy followed by a full coat over the entire plant. It was then top coated with a High Solids Two Pack Polyurethane to an aesthetically pleasing colour.
The stacker/reclaimers at Port Kembla Coal Terminal
The stacker/reclaimers at Port Kembla Coal Terminal posed many problems to Dean Industrial. All splice plates had to be unbolted to paint all 'back to back' surfaced then re-bolted using large torque wrenches. A local steel fabricatior was used to assist in this work as protective coating continued.
Rectification work to galvanized steel
Dean Industrial carried out rectification work to galvanized steel structural members to Port Kembla Public School. Due to its harsh environment being only metres to the coastline, all surfaces were abrasive blasted back to the original hot dipped galvanized surface and removing all existing paint. The subsequent coating specification was applied which consisted of (2) coats of High Build surface tolerant Epoxy followed by a coat of High Build Gloss Two Pack Polyurethane. All environmental issues were considered during this rectification work and all necessary scaffolding, encapsulation & dust extraction was utilized to reduce the impact on surrounding neighbours.
Protective coating to architectural projects
Dean Industrial has the expertise in protective coating to architectural projects. Current work includes Two Pack top coats requiring Metallic finishes as seen in this project. We are currently painting a lot of structures, hand rails & features at Keira Mall using the same paint systems and finishes.
Awning at Thirroul Community Centre
This awning at Thirroul Community Centre was recently completed at Dean Industrial for a local construction firm. A High Build Epoxy finish was chosen in a Low Gloss MIO finish to give it a more subtle look.
Structural steel at WIN Stadium Northern Grandstand & Wollongong Entertainment Centre
The structural steel at WIN Stadium Northern Grandstand & Wollongong Entertainment Centre was carried out at Dean Industrial yard. Using a (3) coat Epoxy system due to its close location to the coast, it gave a tough yet maintainable finish when damaged, ie. During erection or common wear & tear. All Epoxy top coats can be tinted to any Australian Standard colour (AS.2700).
